I am getting my tubes tied after this baby is born. It is our 3rd child and we are in our 30's, just ready to be done. My doctor has given me two choices: one is having my tubes tied directly after birth (24 hours) which will require an epidural and an incision through my belly button. The down side is that I will need to pump and dump for 24 hours which could impact bonding/milk supply. The second option is to come back in after 6 weeks, go under anesthesia and receive two seperate incisions, and increase my recovery time to a minimum of 8 weeks. There is also an increased risk of failure/complications by waiting. I am leaning towards waiting until 6 weeks postpartum but am interested in other opinions or personal expirience stories!
