How would you tell someone you are pregnant with their child but do not want them involved? My ex and I had a momentary rekindling and while he is my best friend, he is my ex because of severely broken trust. Possibly irreparable. I could never terminate so that's not on the table for me.

He is still a regular part of my life but I just cant see him being the father of my child. Maybe that's selfish I just see the way he treats his daughter and he isnt a BAD dad but he isnt a good one either. I have a custody case open against him for his daughter as I did all the parenting when we were together (her entire 6 year life, we got together when she was 6 months old and her mom passed away not long after) but am not her biological parent so I have to fight for any rights.

He has alcohol problems and generally cant hold down a job. He has something good right now and I'm rooting for him to stick it out but who knows. I have a lot of negative feelings towards him even when I'm not actively feeling hateful. Like in the back of my mind I have this very skeptical voice talking to me about everything he does. Oh hes talking to so and so. Probably trying to get in her pants. Oh he sat in his car 20 minutes. Probably drinking. Oh he got a good job? Let's see how long it takes to fuck this up. I doubt t everything he does because that's been our history. I dont want to have that attitude toward the father of my child. I'm so mad at myself for letting this happen.

I understand that calling him my best friend and then saying all this is somewhat contradictory but these are my internal feelings. Its hard because none of them go together... he IS my best friend. Losing him the last few months while dealing with court has been so hard. He has been there for me more than anyone else my whole life. But he is also a major source of pain.

Do I just not tell him it's his? Do I tell him I have reservations and give him a chance to put my distrust to rest? We tried to have a baby when we were together and it never worked out. Now here we are.... timing COULD NOT be worse. Our relationship COULD NOT be worse. And yet....🤰
