I will post pictures a little later because it is late, but I am starting my very first indoor garden and am doing everything (except an aloe) from seed. I am SO happy and excited with the progress! I have two strawberry sprouts! I've had a lot of failure so far with strawberries, but now I have two! My thyme and oregano are growing well as well as my wildflowers and forget me nots. My chives need a little help... but it'll be okay haha. And tomorrow I start trying my hand at some radish microgreens! I kept getting rot on my sunflowers.. if anyone knows about that it would be great to hear about! I am loving gardening. It is giving me a great new outlook and zen to my life. Being able to be in dirt is so nice when you just have an apartment. Indoor gardening is surprisingly easy and despite a few (in my opinion not so great but good enough though maybe I'm not looking in the right places) videos of indoor gardening I feel like there is not a big community for it so I'd like to start one. It was so easy for me to start too, if anyone is at all timid over pricing! The dollar store right now has seeds 4 packs (a decent amount of seeds) for 1 dollar (they may be a little lower germination rate but they are still good and viable and a good enough start!), they have terracotta pots, plastic pots, metal pots, trowels, watering cans, gloves, soil (depending on location, I didnt see it at the one I first visited and ended up spending $10 on peat moss and organic potting mix at Home Depot), and little decorations. I'm sure there is more but I will go nuts if I keep looking haha. Also I looked into Target's $1-5 section and they had some seeds but they were more expensive for less seeds ($3 for 8-10 seeds). The only thing that is a benefit is that the seeds are "guaranteed to grow" and if they do not the company on the packet will send you new free seeds. So it could be a bit worth it that way. Some other things I picked up were flat cheap tupperware containers for germinating seeds. However I could have, and in the future will, use recycled items for this process. You can use old salad containers, plastic pastry containers, plastic/aluminum take out containers. And red solo cups can be used for starting seeds instead of buying those seed cells. Other people use toilet paper tubes in a bin as a seed starting cell as well. (I have issues in cardboard which is why I don't like to use it, but others use it just fine). Seed packets like the ones I found at the dollar store run about $1.50-3.50 each in most of the places I've found them like walmart, home depot, and target(target's gardening section is seasonal in my area, the seeds are not always on display). They have a higher germination rate than the dollar store seeds, but it is more expensive per pack so if you do not have a lot of money to start with like myself this may not be viable. If you're in need of bulk seeds I'd really just reccomend looking and comparing all online seed shops prices and weights. I just really hope all of us can start getting into gardening or even get reinforcement for it and all of us can have fun together! I'm also hoping this came off nicely as encouragement for the new gardener! We can do it
