Yes that is a positive OPK. Not sure if you are trying to get pregnant or not but this would have been ideal time to get pregnant. Sperm live inside you for a few days so if you ovulated now and had sex today or yesterday chances are the sperm will find the egg.

It’s so bittersweet!!!

Does your 5 year old have separation anxiety?

I’m a stay at home mom and I don’t know if it’s a mixture of her personality + me being home + Covid, but she is a stage 5 clinger. I want to enjoy it, I do. I just worry she should be past this. I can’t even go to the grocery store or anything without her being upset and wanting to come. She is glued to me all the time. She is the oldest of 3.

That’s a sign of constipation. My son gets this from time to time. Try using a probiotic each day like culturelle or mommy’s bliss constipation ease for more instant relief. Both of those help him a lot.

An

We started to make her do it at age 4. It took a few days and she still loves to use way too much TP 🙈 we also started stressing washing privates at bath time so she's been doing that also. I think you can absolutely get things going with your son.

Pre-K Questions!!

My son turns 5 this July and will be going to pre-k in the fall. He has not been in any preschool or even daycare his entire life and has been with me the whole time. I’m just wondering if anyone has had the same situation and what did you do to help your child not be so scared. My son (with tears in his eyes) said “don’t leave me, mommy” when I told him about going to school and how I won’t be able to be there and it absolutely broke my heart. We still have a few months so I want to prepare him the best I can. He’s excited to make new friends and to play (covid put a stop to play dates so he’s ready to play with other kids) but he still says he wants me there with him. Also, we will be moving to a new duty station a couple months after he starts school so if anyone has any pointers on how to navigate that as well that would be awesome! Thanks!!

It’s hard he will get used to going though and I’m sure he will have lots of fun!!! He may cry at first but he will be ok and it’s good for him to be in school!! My son just turned 3 few weeks ago and missed his whole year of daycare in 2020 as a 2 year old. he just started doing soccer. And I’m going to put him into a camp this summer. They need to be around kids.

How to explain a new baby

Hey y’all! I haven’t been active on here since I had my July ‘16 baby, but we recently found out baby #2 is on the way! My daughter is super curious, and isn’t content with the just because, that’s how it is explanations. She always asks a million questions and needs all the details. She’s already asked before where baby’s come from, but now that we’ll soon be telling her there’s a baby in mommys tummy I’m afraid of how we’ll explain it to her. I of course want to be age appropriate, without having to explain how reproduction happens of course, but just not quite sure how to go about it. Does anyone have any books or tips they’d recommend??

With my son we just explained that when a mommy and daddy love each other, God sometimes blesses them and puts a baby in mommy’s belly. We explained how mommy would keep the baby safe in her belly and grow it until big enough to come earth side. I would show my son the weekly baby updates on apps so he could see pictures of how the baby looked at different stages. We talked about different ways we could prepare for baby’s arrival. I made him feel very involved in things and even asked his opinion on things and then would tell him that’s a great idea! He would get the biggest grin feeling like he was involved. Once baby was here it all came full circle and he was very involved and loved his baby brother!

Potty Training

My 4 1/2 year old son just 100% started the potty training process a day ago and he’s doing fantastic. Pees in the potty every time and tells me he has to go but won’t poop in the potty. He wears pull-ups but knows he has to go in the potty. He’s very picky about certain things and the potty seat seems to be one of them now. He will not sit on a toilet without his potty seat on it. I never got too worried about it since we don’t really go anywhere due to covid but my fear is if we are on the road (we are moving to a new state late fall early winter this year) and when he starts school next fall, he’s going to refuse to go without his potty seat. How did you guys get your kiddos to get used to the regular potty? Did you take the potty seat places? And how did you guys get them to poop on the potty? Sorry, lots of questions but this is so new lol also, no judgement on his age please. We tried training earlier but he wasn’t ready.

I’ve always heard boys are harder to train then girls. I have two boys. We have trained my 4.5 year old. We have slowly started to train our 2 year old. We trained 4.5 y/o when he turned 2. It took two rounds of training but he picked up pee training in days and it was said and done in no time. Poop on the other hand took a year, maybe more. It took a long long time to get him to go in the potty. He still holds it as long as he can but he now usually gets to the toilet in time but he still has bad days. It was hard to stay patient. We tried every single thing you could think of and then some and honesty it was just time and patience that made it happen. So, I think best advice I can give is encourage him to do it, congratulate him when he does well or makes progress. Make it fun and exciting but be ready for it to take a long long time and be ok with it. He will learn eventually, they all do but stay consistent, do not go backwards once you start and keep moving forward. Don’t get mad, don’t punish, try to understand him and his struggle and support him. He will get there, keep motivating him.

Does your July baby wet the bed?

My daughter has been potty trained since 2.5, night trained for the most part since 3.5. She is 4.5 now and wetting the bed most nights. I had to go back to pull ups for night, no day time accidents. Baby #3 will be here within a month and I’m not sure if that is causing the regression.

We just cut out pull ups about three months ago. I bought some Peejamas which are pajama pants with a built in cloth diaper, designed to help with night accidents and teach their body to not pee at night. He quickly stopped having accidents as often once we stopped pull ups all together, and now I think it’s been 3 weeks since he’s had one. He was never waking up dry in the pull up, I think his body just knew he could go, so it went quickly after we switched but we have to focus on no water after dinner and peeing right before bed.

FINALLY! After 4 years 💕

My son was born July 2016 and we technically held him back when starting school. He would’ve been the youngest in his class otherwise. So he did Preschool at 4, is doing PreK right now at 5 and will enter Kindergarten in August after turning 6. Every teacher and parent I’ve talked to has given the advice to hold summer birthday children. Especially boys as they usually mature later. I personally felt like my son would’ve been fine had I started him on time. He was “ready”. However, I fear more so as he gets older. I’ve been told the curriculum for school is so much more advanced these days and while I felt he was ready now, I didn’t want him to struggle once he got to 2nd, 4th or 6th grade. I would rather him have an advantage of being older for his grade than the disadvantage of feeling like he’s falling behind.

My 4 year old has been promoted to big sister! 🥰🥰 this was her reaction seeing the baby for the first time

Hitting/shoving

HELP!!I've tried going over the stop with positive reinforcement, I've tried behavior charts, time outs, losing privileges, losing toys/screentime, even spanking...which I never wanted to do but what else is there?? My daughter will NOT stop hitting and pushing her 2 year old brother. She's not doing it for attention because she does it when I'm not looking or waits til I'm out of the room. It is completely unprovoked and seemingly out of nowhere. Any tricks to stopping this behavior?? It's to the point where I really can't leave her alone with him..I'm afraid he's going to get seriously hurt if he's shoved and falls into or onto something. 😔

This age they still lack many vocabulary skills to properly express themselves. Is there any type of stress in her life? I think after telling them no we don’t hit, have deep conversations on how she feels, why she feels angry, why brother is upsetting her, and do this every time. Covid is stressing adults and kids out still so I’m sure behavioral problems are more common now.

TMI..

My daughter had diarrhea last Saturday went away by Sunday.. and she was fine all week till this past Saturday it started again and it’s been day 3 of diarrhea. It’s not constant but any time she has to poop it’s diarrhea.. i started the BRAT diet to see if it helps by tomorrow but has this happened to anyone else’s little ones ? And what did you do for it ?

Just make sure she’s stay hydrated. Stomach bugs actually take longer to work out of our system than we usually think.

4 year old refuses to sleep in her room

HELP IM DESPERATE! I had a baby in July and before the baby was born I started sleeping on the couch as I couldn’t sleep in my bed. Fast forward to know and I’m ready to get baby in the crib problem is my 4 year old refuses to sleep in her room or anywhere other than the couch with me. She says she’s scared and when I ask her of what she says she doesn’t know. She will play all day in her room alone but anytime it’s near bedtime she refuses. I know it’s my fault because I let her sleep in my bed when me and her dad briefly split up but I’m ready to be back in my bed and actually sleep at night. I’ve tried everything bribes buying her new bedding a new bed night light nothing will work. Anyone have any advice tips tricks anything before I lose my mind completely.

A really good night light that they can have in bed with them has helped mine but we still have bad nights getting to bed. On those nights I just let her play IN her bed with something safe and quiet and eventually she’ll tuck her self in and go to sleep.

He’s going to be a big brother

My sweet 4 year old has been promoted to Big Brother and he couldn’t be more excited! He’s going to be an amazing Big Brother! 😘💛🌻
