Introducing the NEW offline data protection feature

Hi Everyone! We would like to make an announcement that we are releasing a new feature that enables our users to further protect their health data. The Offline Data Protection feature lets a user store her important health data (e.g. period data, health logs, etc) locally onto her device. These health data will be permanently deleted from Glow’s servers and she will be the only person with access to these health data and no one else. We view it as truly 'your data, your choice.'The Offline Data Protection feature is now on the Eve, Glow, and Nurture app (both iOS & Android). Our number one goal is to build the best products for our users and we will continue to protect our users' privacy and personal health information. Please don't hesitate and contact us if you have any questions or feedback!

New Glow homepage is coming!

Hi Everyone!Since we began our journey in 2013, we’ve relentlessly strived to give our users the best product experiences possible. We are extremely proud that we have successfully helped over 1.6 million users become pregnant! Throughout the years, we’ve focused on designing the best product experience for our users. We’ve learned that fully understanding one’s reproductive health is not an easy task. The users have to navigate through layers of personalized information, health metrics, and they have to understand them thoroughly in order to decide how to best achieve their reproductive goals. We also know that the app can become cumbersome to navigate as more features are added over the years. So to reduce the complexity, we are excited to announce the release of a brand new homepage, which is designed to make the navigation experience and information consumption easier for everyone. This new update will be rolling out next week, and we hope to hear your feedback so we can continue to improve the product experience for all of you.  Here's a sneak peek of changes coming your way:

Moderating posts related to vaccines and mask-wearing

As a women’s health platform, Glow strives to help and support you in your health, no matter what your reproductive health or family planning goals may be. With this in mind, we believe in the importance of staying up to date with current World Health Organization and Center for Disease Control recommendations and guidelines. As new information and data emerge, WHO and CDC recommendations may change over time. Currently, both WHO and CDC recommend practicing social distancing, staying home as much as possible, frequent hand washing, and wearing a mask in public. Staying up to date on vaccinations, including the annual flu shot, is also recommended for everyone without medical exemptions. To efficiently reduce confusion and promote healthy habits within our Community, comments and posts going against WHO and CDC recommendations regarding the use of masks and vaccinations will be deleted without comment. We thank you for your understanding and support!

Healthline award announcement

Hi everyone-A quick interruption to your August doldrums. We have exciting news to share! Glow has just been selected by Healthline as one of their best apps of 2020 for breastfeeding. We’re honored that our support for new parents is being recognized. While not everyone breastfeeds (for multiple good reasons), those who have know that it is one of the hardest things a new mom encounters. We created the Glow Baby app (iOS,  Android) with this in mind, providing easy-to-use tools for new parents to tracking feedings, pumping sessions, and so much more. And we’re so proud that our pregnancy app, Glow Nurture (iOS,  Android), helps new moms track their own postpartum health, because a healthy mama means a healthier baby. Check them out, and tell a friend!Stay healthy and mask up,The Glow Team

Small Change to Social Media Sharing Rules

Hi Everyone! We've made a small change to the Community Rules. You are now allowed to share your social media information in the Community. Please keep in mind to stay safe while doing so (only share accounts that you don't mind being made public). Please note that you are still not allowed to promote personal businesses or products, or ask for donations, no matter how worthy the cause is. Also, please remember that this is not a dating app, and all attempts at sexual solicitation will be deleted and you will be issued with a warning or permanently suspended.

The glow baby app on watch doesn’t support logging multiples. It’s hard to use for twins.

Silence Is Not An Option

We cannot stand by in silence. We believe #blacklivesmatter and will #amplifymelanatedvoices. And we are so saddened by the events from the last few days, but we are even more saddened by the pain that African Americans have been experiencing in the past *hundreds* of years. We urge you to educate and inform yourself and others. Here are just a few of many invaluable resources that inform, that fund and that are continuing to break the silence. In fierce solidarity,The Glow teamLearn:The 13th (available on Netflix)www.rachelcargle.com www.theconsciouskid.orgwww.antiracismforbeginners.comDonate:www.naacpldf.org www.blacklivesmatter.com Break the Silence:www.colorofchange.orgwww.change.org #JusticeforFloyd#IRunWithMaud

New 'Product Recommendation' Feature!

Hi Everyone! We're revamping what was once 'Essentials' and introducing the new and improved 'Recommend' feature. This update will be slowly rolled out over the next few days!In this 'Recommend' tab, you'll be able to recommend products you've used and enjoyed to your fellow Community users who are looking for advice about what to buy. Or, if you're wondering what the best brand or item is for a particular need you have, you can use the 'Recommend' tab to ask for suggestions or reviews! When you recommend a product in the new feature, you'll be able to link directly to the product, so that it's easy for the user to find exactly the item you're talking about! Likewise, if someone recommends something to you, you'll be able to follow a link to the item on Amazon or through Google, for ease of purchase or bookmarking on your device.Just a quick admin note about personal business promotion rules: These are still in effect. We ask that you use the Recommend feature to recommend third-party products only. Spamming questions with links to your personal business products will still fall under the Community rules against both spamming and personal business promotion. The new 'Recommend' tab will be similar to how you use the Product Recommendations Group in the Community today. We hope you enjoy the new feature!

Me

Hello! I would really like to know how to change the address to our registry. I’ve had an item purchased for me and luckily they brought it to the correct address this time. I’d like to correct this problem so this doesn’t happen again.

New to Glow? How did you hear about us?

Hi Everyone! There's been an influx of new people to our platform this week - YAY! WELCOME! And we here at Glow were wondering how you first heard about our little app? Was it a particular social media post? Did you see us advertised somewhere? Let us know if you can pinpoint what you saw that made you want to give us a try! Thanks!

We need a statement from Glow to know if your app is safe to use following the Roe v Wade overturn. Will our data be private and protected?? Are we safe from our charts and period information being released and potentially being used against us in legal situations??

Community Ads

Hey Everyone,You may remember the post we did a while ago announcing ads would be coming to the Community. We're going to be launching two ads in the near future, so keep an eye out for those. I know no one necessarily enjoys ads, but they're something that will be good in the long run for the Community - ads mean money for the Community, which we can then use to pay our admins and work on new features. So if you see them, don't be surprised. We'd also really like to hear your feedback on what you think and what we can improve. One of the ads is now live. If you'd like to check it out so you know what they'll look like, you can see it here: https://glowing.com/community/topic/72057594042418520

Your ads are every 10 seconds on a video! This is ridiculous! It makes videos impossible to watch and half of your ads are offensive to women and moms in general! It'd be one thing to place an ad at the beginning and end of the video but, posting 10 of them for a 2 minute video is absolutely greedy! This app has completely sold out. I'm relying on other apps here on out for my pregnancy journey and community of women. I'm super disappointed in what Glow/Nurture has become.

Posts about Suicide and Self-harm

It saddens us greatly to see members of our community hurting. However, based on medical research, we have a policy of removing any and all posts that mention suicide, self-harm and other such behavior. Instead, we at Glow reach out to them privately to offer help and resources. The reason we delete such posts is two-fold: 1. We want to protect the poster from any unsupportive replies. (I know this would never happen here, but in other communities, I have seen comments such as "Just do it! Kill yourself already!") 2. Suicide/self-harm are catching. Social evidence has shown that suicide serves as a model, in the absence of protective factors, for the next suicide. This is referred to as suicide contagion. They occasionally spread through a school system, through a community, or in terms of a celebrity suicide wave, nationally. If you see a post about suicide or self-harm please report it immediately. Thank you very much. The Glow Team Here is an article about Suicide Contagion in case anyone wants to learn more: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/08/14/upshot/the-science-behind-suicide-contagion.html?_r=0
