2yo getting kicked out of daycare?!

My child just turned 2 at the beginning of this month and we were informed that because they are biting, they’re going to be brought up at the next leadership meeting to be suspended.. the suspension would last two weeks and then my child would get 1 week “probation” back. As a newly 2 year old, I know that week back won’t be any different because what are they going to learn during those two weeks away from the environment they are having the behaviors in…Ugh.. anyway—has anyone else dealt with this? I’m at a loss with no other childcare options in the area.

We gave a kid a sticker everyday they didn’t bite their friends at the daycare I worked at and went from biting sometimes 3 kids in a day to making him a month no biting reward certificate. He was only around 18 months old I’m not sure how his parents encouraged him at home not to bite but we saw a complete change when we started the stickers and made a huge deal of how good he was doing everyday..

Discussing pregnancy with my Boss while up for a promotion

I'm looking to be moved up at my current place of work, and have discussed it with my boss. But I have yet to discuss the fact that I'm pregnant and I'm nervous to have the conversation. Any suggestions on how to approach it and what exactly to say to show I'm still interested in the position and hoping this doesn't affect the decision? Thank you in advance! 🙏🏼

Knowing how companies are, I wouldn't discuss my personal life with my boss.Your workplace needs to have contingencies. They need to be prepared for people being away for extended periods of time due to bereavement, maternity/paternity leave, and even accident recovery. Your promotion shouldn't be contingent on your family plans.I would tread very carefully. Some companies may not directly tell you that they're passing over you because of your pregnancy, but they'll find another reason not to promote you. Don't let that happen to you!

Back to work 4 weeks after c section

My baby turned a month old on Friday and i have to go back to work on Monday. He will be about 5 weeks. I am just not ready to leave him. I dont have a choice though. I was fired from my job in Oct when I was pregnant with him. And now I HAVE to take this job. I have no choice. I am just so sad that I have to leave baby already. What makes it worse is I am a daycare teacher so I have to lwave my baby to go take care of someone else's baby. I am struggling hard with rhis. I just need a little advice on going back to work. Please no judgment. I do not have a choice I have to make money. My husband is disabled and cannot work so I really need this job. Im just emotional about leaving my infant.

I am so sorry that your in an impossible situation. Your doing your best. Is it possible to confide in a coworker that you may need to lift a bit less for a couple more weeks and see if they can help you a bit extra for that time? I have no advice for having to leave your beautiful little one. I can't even imagine having to make the sacrifices your making. I know your heart must hurt right now. I know that some other moms have said it gets easier, but if it was me I don't think it would ever be better. I'm so sorry

No it shouldn’t as long as you have the hours for your mat leave

3rd pregancy and overwhelmed for this next chapter

When I was pregnant with my 2nd, I was promoted at 5 months to a job that I had less than 3 days training. I love what I do and did everything I could to make it work. I just made it to 2 years at this job and I have more than excelled. What people didn't see were the hours at 4am that I spent drafting emails and studying while breastfeeding, taking the baby to work and feeding in my office, pumping consistently 2-3 times at work in between meetings and phone calls. Not only did I lose time and milestones with my daughter, but I lost some of myself trying to keep my job afloat and recover from childbirth and postpartum. My husband injured his back about 2 weeks before I had the baby so he was also out of work for months while he went to Dr visits, to discover that he had a fractured disc in his lower back that required surgery to take out the shards. I was the sole income source while learning a new role and having a baby. This time around I am very secure in what I can offer as an employee and my role, so I am staying firm in my health and needs. With 3 young children (6, 2 and NB) when I have this one I know in my heart that my priority will be the kids. Its so hard for me knowing what I've built and accomplished and that I would give that up, however, I know it will be more like a pause this time rather than starting over. Financially we will be taking an enormous hit. We live in a small rural town with so very few opportunities and my husband is having a hard time finding quality work to support a growing family. We will most likely need to move right as I have the baby since I will need to be employed to have insurance to pay for the cesarean. Sorry for the rant, I just needed to write out my thoughts as the weeks are flying by and it becomes a reality more and more.

If you are the breadwinner, why cant you work for a while until your husband can secure a job that will match your income? He can be a stay at home dad. Its just an idea.

Time off of work for birth

I’m due with my 3rd child in August and I just started my new job on 01/06 at our local community college, I have loved it so far! BUT by the time I have the baby I won’t qualify for FMLA since I’ll be less than a year here. HR has told me that I may not be able to take the full 3 months and to utilize my time accrued which I plan to do but by the end of August that will only accrue to about 4 weeks and they have said to avoid using Leave without Pay. Anyone have any experience or advice on what to do so I can spend more time at home with baby?!

Some employers will offer reduced hours/working fewer days for a short period of time before getting back into your FT schedule.

Going back to work after 6 years!!!

I last worked in April 2019. Had my first and second so have 3 years maternity leave each. I also wanted to use the time to finish my engineering course. I finished this September and was planning to go back to work when I found out I god pregnant despite contraception. Well at first I was confused about what to do but decided to go back to work anyway. I talked to my old boss and he is more than willing to take me back until I am legally not allowed to work (6 weeks before giving birth) I start work on 1st jan. And I will be 4 months pregnant. I already told my boss am pregnant and he doesn’t mind. Am currently suffering from nausea and a lot of fatigue. What tips do you have to help me cope at work? Am happy I finally get to work again but am also scared of how I will manage the 5&2 year old plus pregnancy symptoms. Any advice is welcome.

That’s going to be a tough find. Young, and a single mom, professional and successful is a diamond in the rough.

School and planning to TTC

I am going back to school, starting in a nursing program this summer (2025). I have three kiddos at home currently and working full time. When I start my program, I will have a 5 year old and twin 3 year olds. Our household is very busy 24/7 already. My husband is wonderful and supports me 110% with going back to school. (Beyond thankful for him!) We have talked about wanting more children, one possibly even two more (crazy right, we know). Trying to figure out if waiting till I graduate to start TTC or my last semester to start TTC. We both don't want our children to have a large age gap but don't also want to over load ourselves with too much. I know nursing programs are not easy, many hours and tons of studying. I am planned to graduate is 2027, meaning our kids will be 7, 5 and 5. I know it is all based on what works for us as a family and couple but just need thoughts from others as to what they would do!

I had a baby in nursing school a few years back. Had her july 3rd and was back to class 5 days later. 110% do not recommend. Nursing school is what I imagine bootcamp is like. They purposely make things as difficult as possible to weed people out. Its possible that that was just my program but I have never heard any positive nursing school experiences. Adding the difficulties of pregnancy, labor, and then newborn life to nursing school is awful. However I did get through it. With enough determination, its possible. But if I had to do it again, I would either have a baby first and THEN go to nursing school or do nursing school first and THEN have a baby. Definitely wouldn’t do it at this same time again.

Getting fired

Sooo I’m currently on maternity leave. I’m the GM at a store. I worked up until I had my baby but lately I’ve been getting calls/texts from employees asking why I’m not returning to work. Apparently the manager filling in for me has been telling employees and customers I’m not coming back. I wanna reach out to my boss and see what’s going on but I’m also kind of like F it. I’ll find another job 😩 I have almost 2 months left of leave and I don’t wanna let this stress me out but I do want to know what’s going on.

They can’t fire you when you’re on a protected leave. I wouldn’t say anything.

My baby stayed up all night yesterday and i dont know how will i cope up. Asking for additional holidays is not possible and i dont/cant quit my job. Please tell me how do you manage your babys routine? Right now i wake him up after every 3 hours to feed him. He sleeps in his crib but this because we are still at the hospital. How do you guys stay in control and manage. I just need good tips and advicesz

First don’t wake up the baby unless there is a medical reason - babies wake up when they are hungry or need something

Should I stay w my kids dad although he’s not mechanically inclined ?

So my kids dad said he will never drive and how he will never be driving the kids anywhere… He said that it doesn’t feel right to him to drive and that he’s afraid… He was driving and on his way to getting his license two years ago and just never did it and told me that another four years from now he will be in the same position and how some people just never learn how to do things… I don’t want somebody that doesn’t believe in themself & keeps making excuses to why they don’t wanna push them self to be something better. I just don’t know how to feel about the situation

If youve been able to figure this out long enough to have multiple kids with him, I dont see why it's a huge issue now. I drove since 16 but 3 yrs ago we moved overseas and the streets are so narrow Im nervous to drive here, my husband does all the driving and we only have 1 car, it isnt a huge deal. Yes youll have to pull his weight in that one area but if hes responsible and a team.player in other areas then it balances.

Going back to school

Looking for some insight or inspiration of other mom's going to school and in what field? My oldest will be in kindergarten my middle will be two mornings of preschool and I will have a one year old home with me in the fall.My background was Early Child Development but looking at something outside of that as I have multiple health issues and cannot do the physical part of childcare.I want to start planning on me making a career for myself. Thanks!

I’m Scared and it’s stressing me out

So all my life I've wanted to become a nurse, but everytime time i get the courage to start it i always find an excuse to back out. First it was me being a working mom, then it was me being scared to take the test, then it went back to being scared to take the chance at doing it cause i don't know how to balance work, school & children. (I don't have a support system). I've been a CNA/ Med tech for over 10 years working in nursing and assisted living and i recently lost my job and lately l've been thinking more about an actual career and im just so stressed about it and everything else. But then the fear comes in heavy and i don't know what to do.I'm scared of failing. But i also fear not making anything with myself

Fellow RN students. I have ?

I graduate September of 2025. I start clinicals in 2 months. I am struggling to find a job that will allow the flexibility to attend school and clinicals. Every single job is monday through friday 8-5. Even STNA positions are all requiring rotating weekends and 13 hour days. What did you do for work? I have a 5 year old and 6 week old and I refuse to fail. I currently work for a physicians office but they are not.flexible and will not allow me to have the two mornings I need next quarter to attend school.

Honestly I took a job in laundry at a nursing home on the weekends only so I could focus on class/clinicals M-F. I could study while the loads were running which was nice. My baby was a little older though, I don’t know if you’re wanting to do school 5 days a week and work the other 2. It was rough, but a means to an end.
