Hey guys!

My boyfriend (Seabee in the Navy) and I have been together for about a year now. Him and I are in a very happy relationship. I still live with my parents and so does he. He takes care of his mom and I am choosing to live with my family until I finish college. We don’t see each other everyday like most couples. In fact, we live 45 minutes from each other and in different states. I live in Jacksonville, Florida and he lives just over the border in Georgia. We visit each other most days on Fridays-Sundays and occasionally on the weekdays for just a few hours. We are already used to some distance as a couple which keeps us from being overly clingy with each other.

Anyway, he just went away for three weeks to combat school and then field training afterward and has very little communication with me. We are used to not communicating a lot throughout the days and managing the distance but not like this... I miss him like crazy and I’ve barely talked to him at all. Lol we normally talk on the phone all night and call each other every morning like high schoolers.

I’m looking for ways to cope and keep me busy. I don’t want to be that overly attached girlfriend that loses her marbles when her S/O is away doing his job. This is his first time being away from me on business, as I we weren’t together when he was in bootcamp and A school so I’ve never done this and neither has he.

In addition to this, he’ll be deploying in October for 6-9 months with a MAJOR time zone change and I don’t know how I’m going to cope with that either. It’s a big jump from 3weeks of not seeing each other and then 6-9months of not seeing each other, which will be coming around the corner shortly here.

So I’m asking all military girlfriends and spouses; what are your very best tips for situations like these? How did you guys cope with your lovers being away. Whether it’s for a short time or a long time, no communication or plenty!
