So my egg retrieval happened yesterday and they took out 5 eggs. The doctor is suggesting I do another round and increase the bank. Initially I thought they would put back the good embryo back in a few days. But her reasoning is that the hormones levels are high and she wants to freeze and implant it next month.

Secondly she explained to us that we can look into getting another cycle done. Increasing the bank and then implanting. This was its easier psychologically and if the bank is good later we can opt for a second child.

Of course all this after she observes the current eggs.

The doctor I trust and it’s one of the leading clinics in my country.

I needed to know does her advice make sense ?

I’m 37 and my husband 42. I have low amh like 1.2 and we have been trying for a baby from 2019. The year was hard for me personally as I lost my only and younger sibling. So overwhelming grief. However we continued and from Dec 2019 to March 2020 did 3 IUIs back to back. After that COVID happened and lockdown. We continue trying naturally and I was on Ovares and Follic acid. Of course it didn’t happen.

July we started our first round of IVF and is was a little bizarre in COVID times. I was in a better frame of mind but of course lockdown comes with its own set of challenges.

Anyways I’m committed to this. But I am confused on what I should do. If we have one or two good embryo do we implant them next month? And take our chances. Or should we do another ivf and increase the bank.

Does it make a difference if one does ivf back to back as the body already has the hormones ?

I have a consultation with her in 3 days but it’s doing me crazy to figure out what to do next.
