Question

Lets say you've been married for 4 years and have 2 kids with your husband. One night your husband tells you he's leaving you because he has been in a secret relationship with another man for 3 years and wants to file a divorce with you and get married with the other man. How would you react? What would you say to him and how would you explain this to your children?

I would be devastated. I'm not sure marriage counseling would work as you can't fix him being gay. Depending on how old the kids are, I would tell them the truth. If they are too young, I'm not sure what I would tell them other than daddy is leaving but still loves them. I would reassure the kids it's not their fault as kids tend to blame themselves. For that matter, I  would remind myself that it is not my fault either. I would be very angry that he chose to commit to a family and probably already knew he was gay but just didn't want to admit it to himself. At some point, I would feel abandoned and hurt. Eventually though, I would move on. I would have my kids to live and be strong for. Life does go on. We are never promised not to endure heartache and pain. The bible does say though that God will not let anything happen to us that we can't overcome. I would definitely turn to Him in this my time of need.

If he is a good dad the yes he could still be apart of the kids life gay or not... But I would take everything  house car moneywhole 9 yards and never look back ... I would do that even if he left me for another girl ...he wants to mess up a family he can start over with nothing

Living a double life like that is wrong. Cheating is cheating no matter with male or female. I would make sure he is still in your kids lives though. Being a good father has no correlation with being a good husband. Go through with the divorce and make it as civil as possible and try not to let your emotions get in the way of what is good for your children.

My parents divorced when I was 18 for the same reason, and I have THREE other siblings! I think what's important that while he's burning you as a spouse, he's not breaking up with his kids. It's def shitty what you're dealing with, but you should want your kids to love their father regardless, so just be honest with them and say he loves someone else right now and wants to be in love with them, but still loves them just as much as usual. Never take how much you're hurt by this out on your kids. As someone who went through this, absolutely I feel for my mom, but I love my dad and as a father, he's always been wonderful. It's been 5-6 years since that happened and my entire family has a great relationship, including my mom and dad.

?? o my gosh! I'm so so sorry to hear this.....I have absolutely no clue how I would handle this...all I can say is maybe you shouldn't explain to the children that their father left for another man. Maybe just explain to them that y'all didn't work out. Once they get bigger than you can start to explain what happened..keep your cool as much as you can. I would be absolutely in shock if my hubby told me he was secretly in love with a man. Best of luck and I am going to lift you up in my prayers immediately.
