Naming after people still alive?

I want to name the baby after my advisor, and my husband insists that it is weird because she's alive.

I wish I could've had a daughter while my grandmother was alive so that she would know how much I love her. I'm pregnant with my 3rd child. I don't know yet if I'm having a boy or girl yet, but if I have a girl I cannot picture her with a better name. I don't think it's weird, I fully agree that to thank and honor our loved ones while they can enjoy it is not weird.

my 3 sons have there grandfathers or great grandfathers name for there second name 2 are alive . I dont think it matters at all
