Stiff neck?

My 9 week old seems to be favouring leaning his head to one side and when I try to position it so it's straight he tenses up and cries as if it's hurting him! Does anyone know how I can get him to stretch it out so its not stuck on that one side?

Is he tracking movement with his eyes yet? Maybe you can catch his attention with a silly face and move the side he does not favor. My daughter tends to do the same and She'll move her head to look at me and she doesn't seem to be in pain when she does it. Pisses her off when I manually move her head though!

I would definitely mention this to the pediatrician. It could be torticollis. During tummy time, see if you can get him to turn his neck to both sides by sitting on each side and getting his attention. Especially do this for the side opposite where he tends to tilt his head.

Definitely go to a pediatric chiropractor (check if certified through icpa4kids.org) or physio. If not corrected over time, this will often lead to some cranial/head flattening

It's called torticolis. My niece and nephew both had it and had to do physical therapy. It's no big deal. They teach you how to do stretches and stuff. My nephew had to wear this necks thing for a few hours a day.
