What does it mean in your language?

My husband and I are originally from Japan and we are thinking of naming our first son "Shiroh" but I am wondering if it means or sounds like something in other languages.

Depending on pronunciation, it may sound like Shiloh. Shiloh is a biblical name, I believe. A city in Israel. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm going to be quite honest here and I mean no offence. Some (ignorant) people mock Asian accents by turning "L" into the "R" sound. So if it's pronounced Shiroh rhyming with Shiloh, it may be a point of teasing.

To sum it up, I really like your name choice. It's beautiful, especially if it has a nice meaning in your language. I just wanted you to have a heads up in reference to the teasing. However, kids will tease kids for many things. If it's not one thing it's another. So go with your gut on this one.
