How do you know you're in labor?

What are the signs of labor? What about the signs for false labor?

Your stomach gets tight and contracts. Kinda feels like period cramps. If they become longer, stronger, closer together it's usually labor. False labor contractions are all over the place and eventually stop. If you start having contractions drink a glass of water and put your feet up. That usually makes Braxton hicks go away. But in my labor mine started out all over the place, but they never went away and eventually became regular and closer together and stronger.

Also, with my first I had never felt contractions, so when I felt it for the first time I was like what was that? Then it went away and came back. And they kept coming. I mean they were very far apart but it was just something I hadn't felt before. With my 2nd and 3rd I definitely felt Braxton hicks and there were a few times me and hubby sat there and timed them but they went away.

I felt period like cramps that hurt way worse. But they were only down low. And my stomach got super hard. I also didn't have any contractions until I was in labor.

For me I wasn't sure I was in labor or not. I had intense back cramping that would come every 5 min ish. It literally would stop me in my tracks. I never felt much around my belly. Finally after almost 24 hours of having super intense back cramps I went to the hospital and was admitted. I was having back labor pains.

You will know for sure if its the real thing. The best way to tell is if they stop you from being able to walk and talk.
