Pill for induction?

Question

Getting induced tomorrow evening and was told that they will start by inserting a pill into my cervix. Pitocin will be second, I'm assuming if the pill doesn't cause labor. Has anyone ever been induced with this pill?

Everyone said it worked fast for them but I'm a ftm, so I'm expecting a longer labor since its my first...

Just depends on where you're cervix is when you start. I've had to give cytotec to patients 3 or 4 times before we could get anything going and start pitocin. I've also delivered a patient after one dose.

I did three pills one overnight and never did pitocin, had pretty quick labor!:) good luck!

I have and was not bad at all. I went into labor within a hour and only in labor for 5 hours. I would recommend the pill than the pitocin. The pill is supposed to soften your cervix which kick starts labor( for some people).

The pill is to soften your cervix :) then they start potocin.

My friend was just induced this way last week. They gave her two pills since the first one wasn't doing anything. The second did start dilation then they started pitocin and broke her water.

It's not really a pill but inpregnated gauze to help soften your cervix. It's called cervadil.

Thanks ladies...she's been stubborn the whole pregnancy, I'm hoping that doesn't carry through to a very long and hard labor ;)

Praying that my body responds to the pill and I don't have to do the pitocin. I hate that I'm being induced. I really wanted a natural birth.
