Rules & Purpose - Please read first

Welcome to the Race, Gender, & LGBT 101 room. This is a space for discussing and learning more about race, gender, and LGBT issues. This is also the home of topics that are likely to require a lot of 101 conversations.

No one is born knowing everything there is to know about social justice issues. There are a lot of questions and misunderstandings on the route to better understanding, and this is the place for that to happen. 

For this to be a productive and educational area, we ask that you follow four rules:

1. Be sensitive. Be curious. Be open-minded.

2. Do not make generalizations.

3. Be prepared to listen, especially when it's uncomfortable. 

4. Don't dismiss the lived experience of other people just because you haven't experienced it yourself.
