How much did you save before planning a baby?

We didn't really save before "planning" the baby... We saved the 9 months of him inside of me.. Thanks God for opening doors for us and making it easy.. I would say don't worry your child isn't going to need luxurious things that's up to you.. In Africa (where I live) they have kids with a salary of 100$ a month and they feel gratefull so don't worry keep it simple if youvdon't have huge means..

We haven't actively saved a certain amount. We live pretty simply and without wanting for much, so we have a decent cushion in our accounts anyway. 
We are saving bottles and cans though and turning them in for redemption. It's funny how something so small really ends up adding up.

We didn't really save anything but now that we're pregnant we're putting away $300 a month. My husband has 2 weeks vacation saved and I have vacation plus short term disability pay for when the baby is born. We honestly probably won't end up buying much because we have a huge family who is already buying stuff.

The baby items alone ended up costing $5000 plus atleast $1000 so your partner can take a week off work. We didn't necessarily save before hand because my partner has a well paying stable job but if you don't have that stability you definetly need to save

We are putting away $10,000 because my husband read an article that said that's how much a baby costs in its first year of life. He said "we can put that much away, start trying and then keep putting money away while you are pregnant. We can see how long we can keep putting money away until we can't afford it. Plus since my job doesn't have paid maternity leave, in basically creating my own, by putting away so much. It might seem like a lot, but we both work full time and we put away about $400 to $500 a month so we will get there in no time. We've been saving for a while. And according to my budgeting app, we should (barring no extremely expensive emergencies) be ready to start trying at the beginning of next year which is exactly what we want to do!
