Diva Cup anyone?

Question

Has anyone tried the Diva Cup that would like to share their experience? I've heard rave reviews, and it's supposed to be more sanitary, more comfortable, cheaper, and more Eco-friendly than pads or tampons. I just bought it haven't tried it yet. What are your thoughts?

I haven't tried it but I just learned about this in my sexuality class! Apparently it's been out for a while but I don't think I'm gonna get on board with this train lol. Idk it's something about the inserting part and taking it pout filled with blood (sorry tmi). But yea glad to see so many enjoy it tho :-)

I love the cup - changed my life.  If in a public bathroom i take a bottle of water with me to wash hands as they get a bit sticky and use lots of toilet roll to wipe away. Sometimes I can wear it 8 hours straight before needing to empty. To clean I stand it in a bowl of boiling water for 5 mins. Have used it for the past 8 years and never had to buy any tampons or pads. I also wear it during the night, but have sometimes leaked if period was heavy so if i need to pee during the night I make sure I empty it and re-insert.

I took the plunge and I love it! When everyone talks about the learning period - I had one, but keep in mind it just entailed wearing the cup and a panty liner the first period I used it! Not bad! I always felt like I was doing pads wrong. They leaked. They were uncomfortable. They smelled. I thought I gave off a different smell in my period! Maybe a little bit (hormones and all that) but I can barely tell I have my period. It's true that you have to be ok with blood and up close and personal with your own body. I like that. I kept hearing that you only bleed around so many ounces of blood but the first time I was like, what's wrong with me?! There's like 10 ounces here! Come to find out most of it is mucus and water. I never knew that! It's all tinged red by the blood so we think it's all blood, hah.

@Stephanie If I'm in a bathroom with shared stalls, I empty it into the toilet and either wipe it out with toilet paper or rinse it over the toilet if I'm carrying a water bottle.

I love mine now too but it took awhile to perfect the insertion.  As it only needs to be changed every 12 hours depending on flow you can almost always avoid public washroom situations! 
​ If you are at all squeamish about blood tho, it may not be for you as it requires you to get up close and personal with your period!

What do you do when you're in a shared bathroom with several stalls and you need to dump it and reuse it? I love the idea of having no tampons.  I tried softcup, but that one really only works well on light days for me.  The divacup looks more promising.

The first few times you use it, do it at home in case you get the placement wrong and it leaks. I found it helpful to watch a YouTube clip of the different ways to fold it. If it seems strange or difficult at first don't give up; soon it will be second nature.

​After a year or two the silicone will start to stain. If this bothers you, soak it in water with some baking soda.

​I have an alternate solution for what to do in a public restroom. I started doing this on a camping trip, when I didn't want to use chemical-treated water on something I was putting in my vagina, and the local water might have giardia. I had another source of liquid which is body-safe and not only clean, it's sterile: urine. Yes, I am suggesting you pee on your cup to clean it. It beats lugging around a water bottle.

Menstrual cups are the best. They hold more, leak less, and are more comfortable. You don't have to worry about which absorbency you need-- the same cup can handle everything from spotting to super-plus. (Although I would recommend a cloth liner for heavy days, especially when you're learning. Either that or panties you wouldn't mind staining.) I love never needing to buy menstual supplies: I save time and money, prevent more consumerist wastage of resources, and keep trash out of the landfills. I don't need to bring a pouch of tampons to the restroom. And I was surprised how attached I got to my trusty little cup.

I have a Diva but haven't tried it, I prefer cloth pads, they come in so many colors and styles I have a drawer for just them.
