When you and your friend or significant other or anybody in between is no longer associated with you, they should quit being associated with your family behind your back as well.

Depends. If they hurt you physically or mentally or threaten great bodily injury then yes, your family should stop associating with this person. But if you're just holding some kind of grudge against this person then no, you can't expect someone to stop associating someone just because you don't like them.

Idk...I dated my ex for 3 1/2 years I was/am very close with his family and I do have a boyfriend now. I see his brother and sisters like my own brother and sister I see them all the time and still hang out with his mom. I don't see anything wrong with it. My ex is fine with it, his girlfriend he has now isn't. But I don't talk to my ex or anything just his family. My boyfriend is okay with it. I don't see why I should cut his family off for something that happened between me and him?

I guess it really depends on how the family thinks of you. I dated a guy for about 8 months (4 years ago) and I still talk to his mom around every other day.

If they were harmful physically or emotionally i think your family would stop talking to them because they wouldnt want to associate with someone that hurt you. If it was just a falling out and you no longer wanted to associate with that person that is your choice but your family doesnt have to just because you chose not to. You can't pick who people are friends with even your own family.
