Stripped or induced?

Question

FTM. Hearing horrific things about having the membranes stripped, but obviously I hear great success stories within 48 hrs of having it done. My doctor will do it for me when I hit 39 weeks. Ooooor...do I wait till
I get to 41 weeks to get induced? The thought of going past 40 weeks makes me want to rip out my eyes, but it sounds like getting stripped might do the same. Thoughts? Feedback? Opinions? Similar situation? Which did you choose?

I had my son at 42 weeks 2 days naturally. Sometimes the wait is worth it.

Don't do either! Baby will come when it's ready! I was induced and it was the worst birth experience EVER!

I was induced at 42 weeks i also heard horrible things and was so scared and turned out that for me it was super easy it went smoothly had baby 2 hours after they broke my water was in labour for about 6 hours total everyone's experience is different and the horror stories seem to be the ones we remember

I asked them to sweep my membranes once I got towards the end and it was uncomfortable but not terrible. There was no screaming or crying or anything. It's pretty quick and more of a stinging/stabbing pain really quickly. Not terrible by any means. More uncomfortable and similar to Pap smear discomfort IMO

Having your membranes stripped is not painful. They will only attempt the procedure if you are already slightly dilated. I've had 3 kids and it was no more uncomfortable than a pap. Also, it only worked on one kid out of 4. Went into labor 5 hours after having them stripped and having sex that evening. I assure you stripping the membranes is nothing compared to labor lol

My doc never even told me about stripping. I was induced because I was overdue. Went in the hospital at 41 week and 2 days, started fluids at night, then my water broke on its own in the morning, and then I was induced with epidural as well. Delivered by 8pm. I don't have anything to compare it with

With my second I had my membranes stripped at 38 weeks. Had my son two days after that. 😊😊😊
