Contractions or false labor??

Question

I woke up at 5 am with pains starting from the back wrapping around my lower tummy vice versa and my tummy feels as if I'm getting stabbed from the inside last about 30 seconds and eases of...starts again after a few mis is this contractions?

Contractions do wrap around from your back to stomach. As you get closer to your due date your Braxton hicks may become more intense though and feel closer to real ones. Key for knowing if you're in labor is their consistency. Download a contraction timer app, and time them. The rule of thumb most OB's give is the 1-5-1 rules. Contractions lasting 1 minute, 5 minutes apart, for 1 hour = go to the hospital. The contractions over time should also get closer together and more painful. They may start out as far as 20 minutes apart in early labor and be very tolerable! Until they become very painful though and about 5 minutes apart, the hospital usually doesn't wan to see you yet. Laboring at home as long as possible is better anyways :) unless your water breaks...go in immediately!
