Asking a midwife for a refund?
Okay, my bff is 39 weeks and had paid handsomly for a miwife (though only a CPM not a CNM) to deliver her fourth baby at home naturally and peacefully.
They have had a few prenatal visits, in which she drives to the midwife or the lady brings all 5 of her own kids to my friends house for the prenatal.
Its is almost go time (she has been in early labor for a few days, lost a litrle plug already) and her midwife just told her she is leaving town for an unrelated reason and that she was going to try and 'speed things up' with a little cohosh and castor oil.
My bff is uncomfortable with that so she asked what the plan is if she is gone when she goes into labor... Her midwife said she can leaverl my friend with a little pitocin for her to catch her own baby (WTF!), she can have her associate come catch baby for another $300+ payment, or she can go to the local hospital where she has no working relationship with any providers this pregnancy - basically show up and push with who ever is on call.
She is freaking out and doesnt know if its acceptable to ask for a refund after this, she is not pleased with any of this.
Anyone been here before? Any advice? What would you do??
