Stopping progesterone pills at 10 weeks?

Question

I was on progesterone pills twice a day till week 10, my doctor told me to stop but I decided to take one a day till week 12. I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow but have period like cramping.

Did anyone else stop at 10 weeks? What was your experience?

I did IVF and took progesterone injections every day until end of 10th week. I'm now 21w2d. My understanding is that the ovaries/corpus luteum are responsible for triggering production of the progesterone (and estrogen I think) that you need to sustain pregnancy until the placenta is completely formed and takes over at about 10 weeks. I was nervous about stopping but all has been great since with no complications. It's not something I would self prescribe. I'd talk it over with your doctor before deciding to continue to ensure you understand the implications.

I stopped at 14 weeks. All ob's have different opinions. My ob says 14 weeks another in her office says 10.
