Anyone here from uk and know how pregnancy works over here??

Question

I went to the gp when I was 5 weeks and she said she would refer me to the midwife and my appointment will come in the post, it still hasn't arrived and I'm just over 6 weeks, also do you have a scan at 8/10/12 weeks?? I'm new to all this and I think the midwives do things different in the us to over here?? I just wanna know when my appointment is and what's going to happen :(

Hey, yes first appointment in the uk is between 8-10 weeks and then you will have a scan at 12 weeks. They don't see you any earlier than that usually because there's nothing to see until then. That's how it was for me anyway x

You see your midwife between 8-10 weeks. 1st scan at 12 weeks, this is your dating scan. MW at 16 weeks. Anomaly scan at 18-20 weeks. MW again at 25 weeks if 1st baby. MW at 28 weeks, 31 for 1st baby, 34, 36 and 38 weeks. MW at 40 weeks for 1st baby. Then 41 and 42 weeks.

I didn't get an appointment with the midwife until I was 8 weeks.. which is when I first met her. 
I had a scan at 4, 5, 7 and 10 weeks - due to being high risk.. I think if your low risk then maybe you won't have as many scans early on, I may not be 100% correct but I think that's right.....

I went to the doctor when I was 4 weeks. Had a midwife appointment at 5/6 weeks. Waited for a scan in the post which was at 13 weeks 3 days. Seeing midwife at 14 weeks. They arranged the next scan for 20 weeks.
