Castor oil

Anna • Married to the most amazing man, and our first son is one on the 25th of June, 2017. Next baby is due sometime in February! ❤️
People need to STOP taking castor oil. It's never a good idea, I understand we all get to the point where we want our baby out. It's natural... But PLEASE just let baby come when he/she/they are ready! Both you and your baby could get super sick and it can even cause SERIOUS health complications... I'm just saying, more cons than pros, so why would you even consider putting yourself and your unborn child at risk?

I am a midwife. Never ever take castor oil. I've delivered babies that have died caused by the mother taking castor oil. For the sake of a week or so just leave your baby to come when he or she is ready. I've never understood why some midwifes advise to take it. All the midwifes I work with in labour and delivery will never ever suggest it. If it was any good for inducing labour then it would be used instead of pictocin. Why would you want to give yourself cronic diarrhoea and risk making your baby have a bowl movement . When that happens it's too late, most babies have to be in nicu. And I have had to deliver dead babies because of it. Most parents lie and say they don't know what castor oil is but US midwifes know when it has been used. I lost my little boy at 17.5 weeks of natural causes I didn't do nothing wrong and I lost my son so why the hell would a mother risk the life of their unborn baby towards the end. People who use it are selfish. I've had to see what it does to parents that it went wrong with. Just wait and if you need inducing by midwifes then so be it. Your baby will come when it's ready. If you want to risk it then I hope you don't have to live with guilt.

My cousins baby passed from choking on his bowel movement in the womb bc of castor oil at 40 weeks after a midwife advised her to do so.... So I myself will never touch castor oil F that.

I agree! I want my baby girl here more than anything but not enough to put her in danger! They will come when they are ready! Women have been having babies for literally ever even before castor oil and inductions were a thing!😋

I know, I can't stand it when woman actually tell other woman to take castor oil. The amount of brain activity of those woman must be super low to suggest something that risks your babies life. Stop being selfish and the baby will come when its ready.

What serious health complications can happen? Not arguing at all! Sincerely curious about it. When I was pregnant with my first daughter 8+ years ago, I went to 42 weeks and my mom suggested I try it because she had tried it way back in the day. Didn't start labor or contractions and there were no other complications that came from it except that I found out it is truly meant to be used as a laxative 😣

And that can happen with or without the oil. My niece almost choked.

It can cause your baby to have a bowel movement in the womb and they can inhale it causing a very serious infection that even some babies die from.

If your doctor doesn't advise you to do it then you shouldn't do it because you saw other people doing it, you should always research anything you consider trying

It's not being selfish if you don't know that there are risks involved. I'd never heard there were risks involved until I downloaded this app! Lol
