My little bean is finally here! (Long)
So we checked into the hospital at roughly 9:00am Wednesday the 6th. I was feeling pretty optimistic about having her that day. They moved me up to a triage room and hooked me up the monitor and things seemed to be all peaches and gravy. My midwife decided that 50mcg of Misoprostol would get things started and as much as I hate that shit it did. Margot on the other hand reacted really badly to the contractions and her heart rate dipped extremely low because her cord was around her neck twice.
She continued to dip and bounce back and next thing I knew I was being admitted and they started prepping for emergency C-section just incase. I was given something to reverse the affects of the Misoprostol and it helped a ton. I continued to have sporadic weak contractions that didn't do much to dilate me so they decided the use a balloon to help me along which honestly made things so much worse and triggered/worsened my back labor. I chose to try nitrous to dull the pain as I didn't really want an epidural, but because I'm the luckiest girl on the planet it did nothing. So I had the epidural as soon I could and they started me on a really low dose of pitocin watching carefully and rotating me from side to side so babies cord wouldn't be as compressed (this is awful with an epidural since the fluid all flows to one side leaving the other with partial feeling.)
After starting and stoping pitocin multiple times I finally made it to 10cm and we started pushing. I think I pushed for maybe 45 minutes on my own and then they brought out a vacuum device that really helped since she wasn't making it past my hips and bam she was here. They quickly whisked her off to the NICU since they expected her to be in pretty bad shape and thankfully she was back in my arms by the time they finished stitching me up.
Margot Allyn arrived late April 7th weighing in at 6lbs 15oz and a whopping 21 inches long.
