Bassinet, crib, other?

Question

I'm a FTM and the idea of putting together a nursery just makes me giddy.  I've heard that is best to have your little one in a bassinet, co-sleeper or bed share for the first 6 months before putting them in a crib at night. Who did/didn't buy a crib or set up a nursery?  Did you like your choice? Was it functional or did it make you miserable?

I'm planning to use a pack n play with the bassinet insert. We don't have a lot of space for baby gear so anything multi-functional is my top priority. We travel a lot on summer weekends and will need the pack n play anyway. If we can make it suit both needs all the better!

I set up a crib in her room and was determined she would sleep there from day one. That didn't happen. She is one month and is sleeping in a rock n play in our room. This week we have started transitioning to her room. You can have a plan but prepare to be flexible because your little one will have their own plan!

My son only slept in the bassinet during the day. He slept every night in his crib until he was 1.5 yrs old when he switched to his toddler bed.

I bought a crib for the later transition, but I was blessed to receive a bassinet from a family member. If you are able to ask for a bassinet I would recommend putting it on your registry if you are having a baby shower.

I had a crib set up with my first and now with my second. My first slept in a bassinet until about 4 months and we transitioned to the crib.
