Baby gasping?

My son is 7 weeks old and sometimes when he sleeps he will suddenly do something that sounds like he's taking a huge gasp of air.. I am so freaked out and already on high alert with anxiety about SIDS- he was born 37weeks 5days weighing 6lbs 1oz- also when he gets really worked up and upset and crying he sounds as thought he squeaks.. I am taking him to pedi hopefully tomorrow but was wondering if any other mom has went through this

Yes! My son did it for quite a while. He's 18 weeks now and has grown out of it. I joked that whoever coined the phrase "sleep like a baby" never listened to one sleep!

It's totally normal and even normal for them to not breathe for a few seconds while sleeping

My son (4 months at the time) was doing it too, usually when he over excited then he started doing it frequently to where I just took him too the hospital. They ran several test on him and found NOTHING. I went somewhere else to get a 2nd opinion and still nothing. He eventually stopped doing it!

My 3.5 week old does it all the time. I talked to the pediatrician. She told me babies' airways are very flexible. The sound is shocking, but it's nothing more than the baby breathing deeply/sharply and he will grow out of it.
Obviously though, discuss with your doctor. Hope this puts you at ease a bit.

My kids did that too. But definitely give the pediatrician a call.  Better safe than sorry.
