Nexplanon or Mirena?

Question

I'm really sensitive to certain hormones and have already tried Depo (big mistake) and pills. After talking to my sister (a nurse who works at a health department dealing with women's health), I've decided either one of these is best for me personally.

Feel free to comment with experiences and advice. :)

I had the Nexplanon and after years of issues with birth controls it was one that worked for me.

Talk to your gynecologist. Explain the different sensitivities you have to various birth control and they'll help you better narrow down the options and suggest which one would be best or even possible alternatives that might be better.

If you're sensitive to depo, definitely avoid Mirena. It's the same hormone. I was told it would be fine because it's way less of a dose than in the shot but I had a lot of the same symptoms.

If you have an issue with hormones maybe try the copper IUD?

I have nexplanon and it's the worst. I had non stop bleeding for like 3 months in a row. Now my periods are worse. I get them for 2 weeks instead of 1. My cramps have gotten worse too not to mention the vomiting and dizziness I get while pmsing that I didn't have before. Just talk to you doctor for what is best for you. I'm planning to remove this and getting mirena and seeing if that is better.

I am too and I had the mirena 8 years total (5 and then 3 before I had it removed to TTC). I loved it and will get it again after I this baby.

If you are sensitive STAY AWAY from mirena! I had a really bad reaction to it and am sensitive as well.
