C-section or VBAC?

My out of state mom told me that she wants me to schedule a c-section so she will know when to come down. I'm only 18 weeks so I have time to decide. My dr said depending on how my babies are positioned and how big they get will determine if we try for a VBAC. Opinions? Comments?

No offense, but I think scheduling a c-section for that reason is a bad idea. I understand where she's coming from to a degree, but most women heal faster and have an easier time with a vaginal delivery. I'm not downing c-sections, but most doctors will tell you the same thing. Also, babies come within a certain timeframe, usually, as long as you're low risk for preterm birth. My mom informed her work when I was due, and they know that it could be a few weeks before or slightly after. My husband did the same. As long as they let the workplace know what's going on, they both said it should be no problem for them to get time off. That may not be the case with your mom, but most workplaces in my experience are like that.

You know, the doc can always schedule an induction if things look good. That way your mom can plan and you don't have to get cut open again. But with twins you really don't have any guarantees as to when!

Do what your doctor tells you is best! I wanted a vaginal birth but doctors said absolutely not (we had a diagnosis of TTTS at 16w and laser surgery to correct) because it's too risky given our complications. So c-section it is!

My first was vaginal and my last was a c-section and my mom reminded me how quickly I healed after my c-section. I want to try a VBAC bc I feel it's healthier but she does have a point. 🙃
