Certain testing later in Pregnancy!?!?

Has anyone ever heard of having any test done were you have to get a needle injected into your stomach or abdomen?

No way! The risk of miscarriage is reason enough not to get it.  I lost 2 babies in 2014.  Will not do anything to compromise this baby, no matter how small the risk.  The info provided can't change or prevent anything. So to me, what is the point?

I have had an amniocentesis done last May.  This is because I was getting tested for possible chromosomal issues with the baby.  It tells you with more accuracy then just blood work or an ultrasound. I need to know what was going on because my blood came back with high risk of issues. So not everyone needs this or gets this done. And in all honesty the procedure wasn't that bad. I just had to wrap my brain around it and it was fine.

It's entirely upto you depending on what results you receive after the initial scan you don't have to have the other test. I personally have never had it done and I'm on my fourth baby. There's a risk of miscarriage just from the test alone. My opinion is what will be will be 😊

A fine needle, usually put through the mother's abdomen, is used to take a tiny sample of tissue from the placenta. The cells from the tissue are then tested for Down's, Edwards' or Patau's syndromes.
