Squat birth?

Question

Have any of you ladies given birth in the squatting position? How did it go?

I've heard good things so I'm curious! Thanks.

Personally haven't, but a lot of people do. It's a more natural position.

Actually, laying flat on your back is the worse position to be in. I personally like laying on my side(3 healthy babies/births).

I tried pushing on a birth stool, hands and knees, standing. You just have to do what feels good to you. I'm having a homebirth with a midwife because my hospital is very anti-natural. This will be 3rd home birth. 4th child. My first was born in the hospital and I hated it. I was constricted to the bed. Could not walk or do anything. Had to use a bed pan to pee. I did not get an epidural and the nurses didn't know how to act because they were use to women with epidurals. So they kept pushing me down on the bed( I was trying to sit up in the bed). Then, I started to get the urge to push and instead of listening to me they told me not to push and to wait for the doctor. Which is impossible once you get the urge. So, after that we went with a midwife. Some hospitals are more natural friendly, but not mine.

My 4th was the fastest/easiest birth I've had. I ended up having her squatting over my toilet at home (no she did not fall into the toilet) after my water broke and thought I was having a bowel movement.

That's the way I want to give birth.. but unfortunately they won't allow me at the hospital. It has to be done in laying down position with feet up in the air. I was very dissapointed that I couldn't choose my position.

My nurse really wanted me to but I could barely hold my self up I'd had very intense labor for over 2hrs with no epi. They attach a bar to the bed for you to hold on to I believe. My nurse said its one of the best ways I was just to exhausted.

My hospital prefers this position. They have squat bars on all the beds to assist mothers get in this position. If you have an epidural it is harder because you need more people to help assist.
