Premature labor at my baby shower!

My baby shower was at 33 weeks and 2 days at noon. I woke up at 5 am with contractions that I ignored thinking they were Braxton hicks. They were 5min apart, uncomfortable but not yet painful. By 6 am I started throwing up violently, which I knew was a symptom of labor. I woke up my better half and told him I thought the baby was going to come today, that I threw up a lot and was having contractions, he said, "no babe, it's too early for him to come, get some sleep. You threw up cuz you ate too late last night"
I got to my moms house by 9:30am to help set up for the shower and by then my contractions were 3 min apart and getting more painful. I tried to grin and bear it assuming it was a false labor due to my early gestational age. I tried walking to reduce them, but it didn't help. While my cousin was fixing my make up and curling my hair, I had to get up constantly and brace myself against the painful contractions.
My mom is a nurse and a lot of the guests were nurses too so I felt that I could trust everyone's opinion who all thought it was just false labor due to stress over the baby shower.
I laid down on my left side for an hour and drank water but that only made the contractions worse. They got to 1min apart and meanwhile, our baby shower had started and we had over 100 guests, tons of catered food and a singer, so with all the money spent and guests who travelled far to be there to celebrate our little baby boys arrival.
By 1pm I was circulating and I forced down two tacos from the taco truck we had there (it really was a fantastic and elaborate shower, I'm so sad that I was in too much pain to enjoy it)
We opened gifts at 4pm and finished by 4:30.... We rushed through gifts from 100+ guests and thanked each person than raced to the hospital. At this point, I couldn't sit down anymore and I was in extreme pain with contractions back to 2 min apart. All the guests were so concerned.
My hubby ran 2 red lights and we were given a wheelchair and he practically ran down the halls to get me to labor and delivery.
The doctors and nurses checked me, and I was 2 cm dilated! I was in true labor! At 7 weeks before my due date!!!!
They did an ultrasound and saw that my baby boy was breeched, and I also was in labor, a version to turn him would not be possible. Within 30 min I was 4cm dilated, contractions every min with the need to bear down and push. Something I had to do all I could possibly do not to.
They gave me medication to stop my labor but my labor kept progressing!
My mucus plug had fallen out and I had bloody show. At this point, the Drs gave my hubby and I the news that the only way to keep my baby safe was to deliver him now with a c section.
We were so shocked, 4 days before at my 32 week check up, my OB told me she would induce me at 41 weeks because it looked like my baby would be late! A premature birth was never a concern and we had nothing ready for him and hadn't taken any of the classes!
They wheeled me into OR and quickly after, we heard our little son cry for the first time and a dr announce, it's a boy! They're must have been 10+ nurses and Drs in there, it was so nerve racking and a shocking experience. I was so scared and worried about my baby's health.
My hubby looked over the curtain at him and said "oh, he's so cuuuuute! He has so much hair!"
A dr came over with my baby and said "ok mommy give him a kiss!" I got to look at him for literally 2 seconds and didn't even get a chance to hold him before they ran out of the OR with him. Nothing had gone according to my birth plan! No delayed cord clamping, no skin to skin hold after his birth! And I was 100% opposed to a c section. Anything for my baby's health though!
He was brought to the NICU and I didn't get to see him for 18hours. The nurses wouldn't let me go there until I could walk more than 5 feet at a time.
Avery was In good health but 2 months early so he had a 2 week stay in NICU. I still miss being pregnant with him as he's 4 weeks old today and still supposed to be in my belly but having him has been wonderful. The 2 weeks he spent in NICU were the hardest of my life though. I barely are, didn't sleep and spent every waking moment possible around the clock at his bedside.
So lucky he was born safe 💙
