Question about visitors

At the hospital. Okay so i'm curious as to when you go see someone at the hospital after they have given birth what do you ask for ? The mom's name ? Can you ask for the dad's instead ? And do you have to know the room number or something? I'm asking because all of my husband's family knows me by my middle name they have no idea about my first name and since i'm married they might think my last name is my husband's which is not , I haven't gotten the chance to change it. So I feel as if when they come visit the nurses will have no idea who they're talking about. Can they just ask for my husband ?
