My friends baby was born with one and he just had his surgery to fix his lip. His lip looks great. Don't worry you will get through this. I know you are scared.

Don't be sad! Each baby is made perfectly by the Lord. These days, cleft lips and palates leave very minimal scars when they're surgically fixed. Praying for you!

Honestly, in answer to your question, I've known plenty of children who have had surgery for cleft lips and never had an issue with their palate. That being said, there are also children who suffer with both issues. However, I work as a dental hygienist and every single child who had these issues are happy and healthy! They had different struggles, of course, but the corrective surgeries they have are amazing and so helpful for the baby. I can't imagine worrying about my child needing any surgery prior to them even being born, but I know in my heart it will be okay! It's a hand toss as to whether or not the palate will be affected as well. Praying for you and baby! I know you have a lot on your mind and a million emotions at this time, which is extremely understandable. Just try to stay strong momma ❤️

I actually found out my son has a cleft lip the day before you found out via ultrasound at 20 weeks. I also was born with a cleft lip and palate. I cried once they flipped it over to 4d because I could tell right away. Having been thru it I will tell you there are many challenges but you and your baby will share such a special bond because of it. Having a cleft lip has made me strong and compassionate and I wouldn't trade that for anything. Idk what you believe in but I believe God only gives special babies to special mamas that he knows can handle it. ❤
