TDAP/DTAP Vaccine - ask family members to make sure they have/get or no?

Question

My parents and in-laws all looked at me like I asked them to sever their right arm when I inquired about their vaccination status. What is everyone else doing?

Just for the record just because you get the vaccine does not mean you are 100% covered for the disease.  Just have them wash their hands and if they feel sick at all do not have them go near tour baby.

I won't be asking anyone if they've had their vaccinations, never heard of anyone doing that lol. But yeah, anyone who's not well etc I would tell them to stay away when the baby is really little

I've never heard of this before. Common sense says wash your hands before handling the baby and don't come visit if you aren't feeling 100%. I've never told someone they can see the baby if they don't have their shots or even thought about asking for that matter.

Anyone sending their kids to daycare realizes by law anyone can sign a paper that says they won't vaccinate and you'll never know, right?

I asked the grandparents to get shots and they all did (except my stepmom)
My sisters all array had it from when they were preg. Even a few of my friends got it because they undershorts the importance and my fears. I also had a nanny get it who came over 2x a month to entertain my son while i cleaned/slept etc.

I told my family, but ultimately didn't force them to get it and never checked their status on it for my first baby. If they were healthy, they got to come see her and I had no issues. Same with my friends. I believe that most of them had it anyways.

You're not alone. I asked my family members the same. The Tdap vaccine is only good for 10 years so older generations aren't always current. I'm not denying them the opportunity to visit the baby but I'm definitely encouraging the booster shot. And my husband has no option-he's getting the shot. Whooping cough is no joke. But if people don't vaccinate their children at all then they definitely aren't allowed anywhere near us. I respect their decision but they also need to respect mine. Thankfully I live in Alabama so not vaccinating is very uncommon.

My husband and I will be getting this vaccine and so will our parents. My father actually brought it up before I even got around to talking about it with them, very proactive soon to be grandpa! ☺️

No shots here! Those can shed and spread from the actual vaccine. I am asking anyone who gets any shots to stay away for at least 3-4 weeks. That's a must. Just our decision. Whatever works, right. 😊
