Joey is here!
It started when my water broke at 6am on his due date, 4/20. Contractions started within half an hour and were 5-6 min apart. Within a few hours they were 3 min apart and almost a minute long but were bearable, but we headed to the hospital at around 8 or 9. Labored there till 10pm, conrtacting every few minutes. Tried laboring in different positions and in the tub but I was yelling and crying and shaking from exhaustion and pain by 10pm so I asked for some pain iv. All my pain was in my tailbone, hips and back and I had several contractions in a row. Even with the iv I couldn't rest and asked for the epidural. After an hour or so it began to wear off and I was only 6 cm dialated so I got some more epidural and they also gave me pitocin because the contractions weren't helping me dilate enough and my cervix was beginning to swell from the pressure of the baby. That was around 1. I finally was completely numb and I was able to rest. At 5 I was finally fully effaced and dialated! Less than an hour of pushing and I caught my son and brought him to my chest :) 24 hours after my water broke Joseph was born! 8lbs and 2oz and 19.5 inches long. He is now 3 days in our arms and we are just smitten with him :) getting the hang of breastfeeding and meeting so many family, he's a pretty calm baby with so many facial expressions lol.
