Worst idea ever?

So I saw his on Facebook while looking up National Infertility week. Is it just me, or is it a little crazy and insulting to give away baby toys to spread awareness about infertility. Thanks for sharing your story, here's a baby toy!?!.... Oh so this attracts all those who aren't affected,  just let us know how many people you know who struggle.... Fml.

Uhm, definitely doesn't make sense at all lol. If your raising awareness for infertility, why would you give away baby items ?

They are essentially using others struggles to promote their business. They certainly aren't raising awareness for the actual cause....

I am going to message them about it and see what they say! It really is rude and hurtful. They should do a giveaway of something that those who are struggling could use.

So I messaged the shop and this was her reply:

Jennifer-    Thank you for privately messaging me.  I completely understand what it's like - my 2 year old daughter is a product of modern medicine (IVF specifically) My goal in my small shop is to raise awareness that motherhood doesn't come easy for us.  So many small shops sell baby and toddler items and are not aware that there is a whole world of women struggling (me being one of them). My intention was to raise awareness specifically during NIAW so that the subject of infertility among fertile women and infertile women is more open and freely spoken.   I do completely see how this could be hurtful -  I was in this same place not so long ago - still am because I (we - my husband too) will never be able to conceive on our own.  I'll reword the giveaway but will continue to be open about infertility during this week.  And your idea about a giveaway for women in the midst of struggling with infertility is a great idea!!  So sorry this comes off as offensive.  One of my biggest fears is being offensive and I did just that.  Best wishes and thank you again for bringing this to me privately 💗 Stephanie

That really doesn't make sense to me. If I was struggling with fertility, I wouldn't want a baby toy that I clearly don't have any use for at this point. I think they would be better off using something that could possibly help those with infertility to conceive. If not, something completely unrelated would probably be better. A nice small gift that would be useful to a majority of people.
