Will I go early?

Question

29 weeks on Thursday.  My cervix Is low and soft. I felt dilation myself but the doctor wouldn't check. My braxton hicks are becoming more frequent. I have sharp pains in my cervix. Has anyone had all this happen and gone full term?

I had frequent Braxton hicks and went to L&D and they found out I was 1cm dilated and my cervix was soft (FTM so that's not normal). They ended up measuring my cervix via ultrasound and it was still long and not funneling which are the 2 reliable signs of preterm labor. I was just told I'm one of the lucky girls that has Braxton hicks a lot. 
Apparently they can also be caused by UTIs or other infections which can also cause premature dilation. If you've been cleared of an infection, I wouldn't worry too much.

I'm sure you are fine. And if I were you, unless you're cool with getting an infection, I wouldn't be checking for dilation yourself. There is a reason doctors don't check that early. There is no point to it at that point.
