Breastfeeding fun facts.

Amber

I just went to my first breastfeeding group with a lactation consultant yesterday and was surprisingly really impressed. (I had previously envisioned a group of ladies sitting in a circle with their boobs out going over latching techniques ) and was so impressed with how much information and tips that were given. Yes of course you feed your baby whenever you feel like it but it wasn't what I thought. I learned a few fun facts that I found really interesting and thought I would share

1. If your baby is feeding constantly maybe every 30 min to an hour. (And your past the cluster feeding stage) check the temperature in your house etc. When it's too warm your breast milk turns into a more watery consistency to hydrate your little one more than feed. And when it cooler it is a more mature nourishing milk to keep baby full.

2. Up until your LO is 6 months they are building their confidence and trust with you. They don't understand being "spoiled" so it's okay to hold them constantly and jump at their every squeak and squeal.

3. I'm having trouble getting my LO to breastfeed bc I introduced a bottle to early and we'll why work for something when a bottle gives instant and consistent satisfaction? Well I was told #1 mom should never offer a bottle let dad, grandma or whoever else but mom should only be known to babe by breast. #2 let baby start feeding by bottle only about an once to get them started and then switch them to breast immediately following the one once. It's like a little snack to calm the initial hunger pains so you can transition calmly to breast.

Just thought I would share some things I learned that I found interesting and beneficial
