Here's what to look for when receiving a manicure & or pedicure!

CONSULTATION: Can I receive a manicure or pedicure?

You are unable to receive services if you have any on the following:

•Cuts, scrapes, open wounds on the areas your tech will come in contact with.

•Nail diseases such as fungus etc.

•Contagious warts

•Have diabetes

•Have recently shaved

These are the most popular ones I see. There are plenty more.

Can I receive if I am Pregnant or TTC?

Yes, but be aware of the fumes. Always ask for a mask. Also ask your tech plenty of questions, they should be able to answer them! There are certain salons that only do natural nails no acrylic enhancements, you can watch out for those.

SERVICE:

•The nail tech should ALWAYS ask you wash your hands before receiving service.

•You should have 1 person working on you even if you're doing both a manicure And Pedicure! Not 2 or 6!

•You should be able clearly explain to the nail tech what you want

•They should explain to you the difference between gel and regular polish manicures if you ask

•They should be wearing gloves

•Clean implements should be brought out

•If you're sensitive to fumes you should be able to ask them for a mask

•During the nipping part, they should only trim the white stuff (cuticle) off your nail. NOT THE SKIN!

•Callus cutters are illegal and can cause an excess amount of tissue to be cut. DO NOT LET THEM USE IT ON YOU!

•Filing nails should be 2 short strokes followed by a long stroke NOT seesawing!

•Your massage should last longer that 5 min (depending on what they offer)

•Polish should be cleaned off of skin immediately after contact

What happens if I get nipped?

Should you get nipped the manicurist should stop service and treat the cut. Then they should clean the table area and discard anything with blood on it. Switch gloves and put a band aid on. If they continue don't feel bad about stopping the service! If you bleed, they cannot continue service on that finger! Getting your nails clean should NEVER hurt!
