To be or not to be on birth control??

Question

I'm 20 years of age not sexually active as of yet and still get my monthly. I get some very bad cramps to the point where I can't even move?? then on top of that I was advised to take birth control pills by my doctor but I don't know if I should or shouldn't... Any advice?

I was on the pill for 5 years. They made me nauseous & caused my anxiety to increase dramatically. I didn't even realize how "not myself" I felt until I took myself off the pill. It affects everyone differently, though. Educate yourself on the adverse affects and decide if it's worth it for you. Best of luck!

Wow that is crazy! A friend of mine was the same. It actually prevented her from being able to conceive when she decided to try. Many people go on bc specifically to control their period. If it makes you more comfortable, give it a shot. Maybe have them start you in a low dosage though just to see how your body reacts. You can always stop talking it if you don't like how you feel while taking it.

I personally wouldn't take it. I used to take it when I was younger and always felt like my system was out of wack so I stopped. Just be sure your careful if you are sexually active. I'd check into alternatives to control the cramping--heading pad, cut down on caffeine, and even try acupuncture--I've heard it does wonders!
