How long does it take for birth control (the pill) to become effective?

It depends on the brand, but regardless, it's a good idea to ALWAYS use a backup method. I've known too many people who got pregnant on it not to!

Give it like a month to get into your system and start working properly. So use other forms of protection until a month after you start using it.
