Bedroom organization

So I'll freely admit that I'm far from a neat freak. Luckily hubby and my 6yo are the same. Clutter just doesn't bother us.

That said, I've hit my limit and I know we'll need to be more organized before baby arrives in October. My first project is our master bedroom. Mostly I just need to do a purge which I can handle. For what's left, I really need to find a better way to use our closet (reach in, sliding doors).

Any suggestions on how to makeover an old closet on a budget? I'd like to maximize storage and have room for our laundry bins so I can clear up floor space in the rest of the room. I'm fine with ditching the sliding doors completely.
