Middle name?

So we want to do Aaron after my step dad, it's his middle name but he's gone by the name since he was born. Michael is the other choice being a recurring middle name in my husbands family, and the plus side is its my step dads first name. I just feel like if we pick that it won't be honoring him fully because he's never gone by that name. Anyways just want to know which one you think sounds better
