What happens at anatomy scan?

I'm 18 weeks and 4 days and I have my anatomy scan Monday, besides determining the baby's gender what else do they look for and how long does the scan take?and is it dont in 3d?

They check head size, belly size, femur size and arm.... spine, check out the heart and kidneys. Basically they just make sure baby is growing good and all is normal

Mine took about 45 mins and then the doctor reviewed it and came in and scanned a bit more himself. They look at everything! It's actually pretty incredible. They can even see baby's brain. You'll get some pictures printed, some of which may be in 3D but that probably is different from office to office.

It's a detailed scan. They check the 4 heart chambers, location of placenta, spine, each limb and the alignment of bones in each limb, brain, face, bowels have fully decended plus more. It takes quite a while but it's really important scan

Is it standard for every pregnancy? My first appt is tomorrow so I don't know the procedures
