Cloth or Disposable??

Question

So i am debating between disposable diapers and a cloth diaper service. I did disposables with my first two babies. But now i kind of want to try and save some $$.  Any thoughts?

One thing to check is what your daycare will accept.  Most of the places around me will only do disposable.  Of course you can do disposable at daycare and cloth at home. It's just something to consider!

My entire family has used disposable diapers and I'm the "weird one" because I wanted to try something different.

My husband and I sat down and did the number and although cloth is expensive UPFRONT in the long run you save almost $1k.

I have taken many classes and also belong to a group on Facebook and all I can say is it's going to be a tough first few tries but once you get the hang of it you won't even notice the difference. Yes there is a little more work but after a while it will become second nature. And my friends all suggested covers and prefolds because it's a bit cheaper of an option as well as less to wash.

All in one or AIO cloth diapers are used just like disposable diapers. If your EBF, you don't even have to rinse the diaper before your wash it! You just have to do a wash and rinse cycle or the shortest cycle on your washer to loosen stuff up! They come in all sizes so from 5-35 lbs you use the same diaper! You'll need about 22 cloth diapers if you plan on doing laundry everyday, and double the amount of you're doing it every other day. There are many different cloth diapering options but these are the easiest! Oh! And the best part, is that you can get super cute prints on Amazon for around $15! I always google reviews on brands of diapers before I chose them, and I can't wait to diaper! I'm due July 4, and my baby shower is at the end of this month. I have about 40 diapers on my list! It felt like I was bra shopping at a lingerie store!

Cloth is amazing. I even cloth wipe whitch saves so much money and wipes! One cloth wipe to clean a bum when it takes God knows how many disposable ones. 
There are so many lovely colours and patterns and styles to suit you and your baby , all in ones, Terry's and covers, prefolds, pocket nappys that you can stuff to get the right absorbancy for your baby . You can also use flushable liners or washable liners to collect the poop. 
Use what ever is best for you and baby, I personally decided to use cloth because it's better for the earth it takes 2000 years for a nappy to degrade imagine how many nappies are laying there in some land fill X

I'm starting with sposies and transitioning to cloth after the stump, or once we've adjusted as best we can to the new norm. We are first time parents so hubby is very apprehensive about it but it will save us so much - especially if we have more kids - I think it's worth the effort. I'm collecting a couple from a few different brands to see if we can find one we like best before spending a lot on a big stash. Pockets are the direction I am heading because who knows how much absorbency our little guy will need and I know prefolds would be a lot to ask of hubby to start with.

This is am interesting topic besides the fact that you will be saving money what are other good factors of cloth diapers I never really looked into something like this I'm a FTM so I have no idea what the cost of diapers will be .. Like do the cloth diapers make the poo smell worse is it the same ? How much can a cloth diaper hold... Like how reliable are they I would like to know about stuff like this and do you just stick them in the washing machine or do they need to be hand washed ect...

I'm clothing it up for the environment. I got all sorts of diapers ( covers,  Prefolds, aio) second hand for a fraction of the price. Spent roughly  $100 total and have enuf of everything for washing every other day.  Plus all the super cute patterns, I can't wait to cloth diaper 😄

I Would think they both smell just as bad. Lol but i want to use a service here near my house that picks up dirty ones and leaves clean ones every week. Disposable ones just took a big chunk out of our $ that we are going to try to attempt the cloth diaper service. I hope its a good experience. Plus then we can always go back to regular disposable ones when the baby starts to eat regular food. Lets hope for the best i guess. 🙂
