Long term birth control consequences

Sara
I've been on and off birth control pills for around 7 years. I naturally have really heavy periods which has led to  iron deficiency and anemia. The pill works wonders for me, and I never have a bad side effect. It helps keep my iron up so I'm not always tired and helps keep my skin clear. But now I'm starting to think about weather or not it's healthy to be taking these pills for so long. Last year I switched to Lolo which worked amazing but I haven't gotten my period in a year!! I talked to my doctor and she said said its normal and nothing to be worried about. She said periods aren't necessary unless you're trying to get pregnant. I don't need birth control for protection right now and I do plan on having kids in the future. So my question is have any of you had any experiences after taking birth control for so long? Do you think it's healthy?
