20 +yrs in the making

I recently reconnected with a man that I've had somewhat of a history with. We met I over 20yrs ago but he moved too far to maintain a relationship so we just sort of faded away from each other. But he recently moved back & for the last 3 1/2 weeks we have been seeing each other romantically. He says he wants to take it slow but also can see himself getting serious with me. He tells me he really likes me and is happy and even asks if I would consider having another baby. Then says he is afraid of letting his guard down . I feel like he's sending mixed signals. I made a pic of him and I as my profile pic. But he didn't seem to thrilled. What should I do. I really can picture being with this man forever but I don't want him to be in this relationship if he isn't sure about me?
