What's labor like?

What's it feel like when it starts? How do you know it's labor and not some random pregnancy pain? I'm a FTM so I don't really know what to expect.

The best answer for this is... You'll know it's labor because you won't have to ask... Which sounds simple but it's true. I felt the same way and even had some false alarms with my forst but when it was the real thing I didn't have to ask anyone, I just knew. It's unlike any other feeling. You'll know for sure!

I didn't know when I had my first kid so don't believe everyone when they say you'll know. unless your water breaks like in the movies, then you might know. I was having lots of lower back pain for a few hours (back labor) but I didn't know that's what it was so I went back to sleep and then woke up 2 hours later and started cramping but my doctor thought I was constapated so she gave me laxatives and then I went to the bathroom and there was blood and then the contractions started coming closer and closer together and I guess my doctor broke my water and then I had my daughter 15/20 min later.

Yeah you'll know! I went into labour at 1AM, I first felt like I had to go to the toilet but it was a weird feeling, then the pains started. Easy at first but def in waves and then just got stronger and stronger until we went to the hospital at 8am. It's a feeling like no other but you just get through it!
