Did the Great Flood in the Bible actually happen?

The Great Flood was recorded in Genesis in the Bible. It is said that God flooded the Earth to destroy all the wickedness that inhabited it, He had mercy on only Noah's family who eventually repopulated the Earth after surviving the flood by building an arc. Whether or not you are a Christian, do you believe this worldwide flood actually happened? What evidence have you found to support your belief? Are there even grounds for belief, or is this more of a matter-of-fact situation?
To those of you who do believe in the Flood, do you believe God will destroy His creation again?

there are tons of accounts of it, from the bible to many other books and writings and oral stories from many different groups of people. some of whom never communicated but somehow had the same story.

A little off subject.  But when my friends used to drag me to church (very small town) I would ask questions like if it all began with Adam and Eve then are we all based off insest?
Only one person ever had an answer, his answer was the great flood, so again I ask since it is just his family and their wives.  He stated that's where the third cousin rule comes in 😷 LOL

There's no evidence that it happened, and there's no way all of the animals would live together even for a short period of time. There's no way you could get every species of animal on a boat like that and have them survive, especially the animals from completely different climates. It's just like everything else with religion, it's more about people's faith than actual scientific evidence. (Not saying there's anything wrong with people's beliefs.)

The methane produced from animal waste would have blown up the boat the first time anyone started a fire. And what about all the food? In addition to the paired animals, did they also have a ton of other live animals for the carnivores? What about animals that only eat living plants? There are some insects and birds that can only eat from one flower, did Noah traverse the planet finding the necessary plants for each animal? It's all ridiculous, I can't believe how many people actually believe that happened. It takes 5 seconds of common sense to realize how impossible it would be to pull off.
